PECT signs on on-dock service with Hapag Lloyd

Pusan East Container Terminal (PECT) signed with Hapag-Lloyd, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, to offer on-dock service October 4.

PECT signed on for on-dock service with OOCL and APL in 1998, and P&O Nedlloyd in 2000. Hapag-Lloyd is the fourth signer for on-dock service in PECT.

PECT handled 45% of all cargoes through on-dock service last year. As of the end of October, that figure rose to 53%. The company expects it to exceed 60% next year.

PECT said that the on-dock system would contribute to solving traffic jams downtown and save on logistic costs by handling the entire process, including stevedoring, storage, customs clearance and inspection, at the terminal without having to go outside.
