[ Danzas and UPS Sign Agreement ]
UPS-the world’s largest package distribution company and Danzas-the
Swiss worldwide leading forwarding and logistics group-have signed an
agreement to cooperate, European-wide, in the movement of ground
freight. The agreement which takes effect immediately, follows the
negotiations as laid out in the initial letter of intent announced in
June of this year. Danzas will ensure the collection, transportation
and delivery of palletized shipments and freight exceeding the UPS
weight and size restrictions on behalf of UPS customers. Similarly,
UPS will provide Danzas with the option to utilize UPS extensive
European and worldwide network for express document and package
delivery on behalf of its customers.
Both companies will approach jointly selected new customers to offer
tailor-mate transportation solutions. No transfer of equity or
capital participation will take place under the terms of the
agreement and both companies will continue to operate independently.
Executives of both companies will meet regularly to discuss the
further development of this cooperation.
The agreement reinforces our objective to take leadership of the
worldwide and European express delivery markets and to focus on
letters, documents and packages. Removing the transportation of heavy
freight from the network improves its efficiency. Working with Danzas
enables us to not only focus on our expetise but also provide our
customs with a solution to all their shipping needs, “explains Ed
Reltman, president of UPS Europe.
Peter Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of Danzas says, “ Customers
benefit from the complementary strengths of the two parrners while
allowing each company to concentrate on its core competncies. There
has been a very high level of cooperation between both companies
which demonstrates well our ability to jointly serve our customers,
now and in the future.”

ECU-Line is starting a direct groupage service to Assab, with
onforwarding possibities to Addis Ababa.
The fortnightly departures are based upon MSC with a transit time up

At Assab, cargoes are handled by the two state monopolies only
