[ Bureau Veritas/USCG Passengership Agreement ]
Leading international classification society Bureau Veritas and the Un
tied States Coast Guard have entered into a co-operation agreement on
passengership surveys.
A delegation from Bureau Veritas, led by its chairman Bernard Renard,
met with USCG commandant Admiral Robert Kramek on December 5 in Washin
gton. After discussions on policy and co-operation between both organi
sations, and Outline of Co-operation agreement was signed by Bernard A
nne, managing directorof the marine division of BV and Rear Admiral Ro
bert C North, assistant commandant for marine satety and environmental
protection for the USCG. This agreement facilitates the contral and v
erification process which the USCG applies to all foreign-flag passeng
er vessels classed by BV and calling at US ports.
