United Alliance decides to replace current Choyang vessels
United Alliance members have announced April 26 that the 7 vessels currently being provided by Cho Yang out of the total alliance fleet will be replaced by Hanjin and Senator's vessels. The change of vessels will be implemented with immediate effect.
The most important consideration that led the U.A members to this move was the necessity to restore customer confidence, which suffered during recent schedule irregularities of Cho Yang vessels deployed in United Alliance Service. The four lines, Hanjin, Senator, United Arab Shipping and Cho Yang were unanimous that only through the recovery of schedule regularity of United Alliance's vessels deployed by Cho Yang can customers' confidence be regained.
This move will technically involve Cho Yang's withdrawal from United Alliance membership since there will be no Cho Yang vessel after the replacement measure.
However, HJS confirmed that Cho Yang will still utilize slots in the enhanced structure of fleet under separate slot charter agreement, indicating its spirit of partnership will remain unchanged.
