Hanjin gets into sailors' officer era

Hanjin Shipping, which caught industry attention after being the first to appoint a captain as director, became the first company to hire ten directors from sea duty, adding two more workers on sea duty to promote directors. Captain Han Sukcheon and chief engineer Kim Seokin were named as directors along with an additional 4 captains, and 4 chief engineers on duty as directors at sea.

A Hanjin shipping source revealed that it has tried to highlight sea services since 1991 and give the opportunity for promotion as on land, bettering morale and improving productivity. Specialization in the marketplace may also settle into the shipping industry, making being a sailor a lifetime career, he added.
