Little effect from participation in overseas exhibitions
Participation in overseas exhibitions has not had much effect on increasing sea products markets.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries disclosed on Jan. 20 that only 14 percent of companies are aggressive enough to take part in overseas exhibitions. MOMAF revealed this through a survey of 558 sea food export companies conducted last December.
Forty-four percent did not participate, citing no impact on business, and 21 percent answered as being affected little, even though they participated. Twenty-six percent answered that they did not take part in overseas exhibitions because they did not know about them. Most exports industries pointed out the biggest problems as the instability of overseas markets (36%), acquisition of raw materials (28%), and the depreciation of the won.
