KMTC launches pendulum service for W.C Japan and China
The Korea Maritime Transportation Corporation (KMTC) kicked off a new pendulum service to link the west coast of Japan and Shanghai with Pusan and Ulsan from August 14.
The 342 TEU ships, the 'Sunny Oak' and the 'Sunny Olive', will be deployed in the trade and will call at Pusan - Niigata - Sakata - Naoetsu - Toyama - Pusan - Ulsan - Shanghai and Pusan, causing no change in existing services.
The KMTC expects this new service to cut transit costs and times producing from in trade between the west coast of Japan and Shanghai. By this, it will upgrade service quality for shippers as well as develop new demand in the trade between Japan and China.
Related to the trade, the KMTC transferred one ship from the west coast of Japan to China. It also took a chartered vessel in the Shanghai trade and moved it into the Tomakomai trade on the west coast of Japan in a bid to rationalize the trades in Japan and China.
"We are going to enforce an alliance system with the main shipping companies in Japan routeswhere the competition is getting more and more serious. Therefore, we are reshuffling services more efficiently to satisfy shippers. in doing this, we will be calling at three more ports, Wakayama, Yokkaichi and Mizshima", said an official at the KMTC.
