DP World Foundation Expands Relief Efforts in The Philippines

DP World Foundation, the charitable arm of DP World, has reaffirmed its commitment to disaster relief and community resilience by delivering critical aid to communities in the Philippines devastated by Typhoon Trami and the eruption of Mount Kanlaon.
 
Through its Philippines Emergency Relief Initiative, the Foundation has provided life-saving support to over 20,000 people, reinforcing its dedication to both immediate humanitarian aid and longer-term efforts, ensuring that impacted regions not only recover but emerge stronger in the aftermath of these disasters.
 
The Philippines endured a series of severe natural disasters in late 2024. On 22 October, Typhoon Trami brought destructive winds and torrential rains, triggering widespread flooding and landslides across the northern regions. Just weeks later, on 12 December, Mount Kanlaon erupted, displacing thousands as ash and lava flows forced mass evacuations in central Philippines. These back-to-back disasters left millions affected, destroying homes, livelihoods and essential infrastructure.
 
His Excellency Nasser Abdulla, CEO and Vice Chairman of DP World Foundation, said: “Our priority is not only to deliver urgent relief but to help communities rebuild and emerge stronger. By reaching over 20,000 people in Typhoon-affected areas, we are providing critical aid and long-term recovery support that fosters resilience.”
 
DP World Foundation allocated US$ 78,600 to fund relief operations, ensuring essential resources reached those in urgent need. Working closely with local volunteers and organisations, such as ABS-CBN Foundation, the initiative delivered:
 
▲4,000 food packs, distributed across nine disaster-affected communities, ▲300 boxes of canned food sent to Mount Kanlaon evacuation sites, ▲Clean drinking water, ▲essential supplies and hygiene kits provided to displaced families A total of 278 volunteers contributed over 1,872 hours to relief efforts.
 
Aid was distributed in key regions, including to communities in Batangas, Manila, Cavite, and Cagayan, where thousands were left vulnerable in the wake of the disasters. Beyond emergency aid, DP World Foundation is committed to long-term recovery and resilience-building, ensuring that affected communities regain stability and rebuild their futures. The Foundation’s ongoing support will focus on: ▲Strengthening community resilience through rebuilding initiatives, ▲Providing essential recovery resources to restore livelihoods, ▲Engaging local partners to create sustainable disaster response frameworks.
