Makwan Ferry starts voyage in Masan and Shimonoseki from July 19
"Makwan Ferry", slated to enter the routes between Masan and Shimonoseki, will host an inaugural ceremony in the western harbor at the Port of Masan this coming July 18.
Makwan Ferry signed a contract with a stevedoring company in Japan and held a meeting concerning the inaugural ceremony with the South Kyoungsang province local government.
Makwan Ferry registered itself as an ocean-going cargo transportation provider as of June 16 in a bid to carry agricultural and fisheries exports to Japan from South Kyoungsang province.
Based on this plan, Makwan Ferry will hold a ceremony for deploying a Ro-Ro (Roll on & Roll off) vessel in the trade with a three times a week service schedule from July 19.
"Makwan Ferry", with its 10,000-ton Ro-Ro ship and a 117 TEU capacity, can accommodate 30 special refrigeration cars and 35 automobiles, sailing at 18 knots for 10 hours transit time in the trade.
An official at Makwan Ferry said, "Ro-Ro vessel will offer a great deal of convenience and cost savings in transporting agricultural and fisheries products, electronics and garments."
