Minister Chung urges to keep paying stevedoring tariff

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries called for related industries to abide by authorized stevedoring tariffs.

MOMAF sent mail in the name of Minister Woo-taik Chung to shipping companies, shippers and stevedoring companies June 22.

Minister Chung pointed out in the letter that stevedoring tariffs are usually offered lower than the authorized tariff rates between shipping companies or shippers and stevedoring companies. "Contractors are obliged to abide by stevedoring rates and tariffs authorized and based on the Port Transportation Act," he stressed.

Minister Chung posted that after a given period the ministry will take action on violators who don't follow the authorized rates or report tariffs to the government regarding stevedoring works according to the Act.
