Inchon/Yingkou opens car-ferry trade in first half next year
Car-ferry trade between Inchon and Yingkou is slated to open in the first half next year.
According to industry sources, the Yingkou local city government unveiled the new car-ferry route during a trade show in Inchon.
Pan Korea Line Corp., on the Korean side, and the Yingkou harbor department, on the Chinese side, will handle this case together. Both sides signed a contract on December 14, 2000 to carry passengers and cargoes twice a week. This consortium began construction of an international passenger terminal in Yingkou on May 28.
Pan Korea Line Corp. unveiled July 11 that they agreed to establish a passenger liner between China and Korea, with both sides investing 1.5 million dollars each and being headquartered in Seoul. It also posted that they will introduce a passenger ferry to carry between 500 to 600 passengers as well as around 130 or 140 TEU of cargoes. The service should start in the first half of next year.
Pan Korea Line Corp. also reported that they submitted this plan to MOMAF and suggested that they take this plan to the Korea China Maritime Council, which is scheduled to open this fall.
