Cargo Exports up, imports down in Ulsan
Thanks to favorable automobile and oil exports, the Port of Ulsan recorded increased outbound cargoes and slightly decreased inbound ones in the first half this year.
Ulsan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries reported on July 21 that total cargo amounts through the port stood at 75,455,000 tons in the first six months of this year, down 1.7% over the same period of last year's 76,743,000 tons.
Exports, however, for the first half this year, rose to 20,133,000 tons, an increase of 7.1 % over last year and imports fell to 44,739,000 tons, a decrease of 2.5% compared to the same period a year ago.
Export increases were accounted for by favorable exports of refined oil and chemical products to China as well as continued exports of automobiles to the U.S. and Europe.
