RADIS records jump upward
RADIS (Rate Discount Service), operated by the Korea Shipper's Council (KSC) under the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), is alive and well.
According to the KSC on July 25, import and export cargoes through RADIS cooperators went beyond the last year's amounts in the first half this year. Container cargoes recorded 3,960 TEU, close to 4,000 TEU, last year's total cargo amount.
In addition, air cargoes increased three fold over last year's in both weight and in numbers of contracts.
RADIS member companies increased by 700 to 2,100 as of the end of June 2001 from 1,400 companies as of the end of December 2000.
An official from the KSC said, "It accounted for RADIS cooperators increasing to 12 from 8, and for RADIS gaining considerable stability coming into its second operating year. We are convinced that cargoes will grow continuously given RADIS's good reputation amongst trading companies.
RADIS is a program for the KSC to provide better transportation services and prices to small and medium sized trading companies. It was formed on December 1, 1999.
