MOL and P&O upgrade their East Africa joint service
Mitsui O. S. K. Lines, as well as P&O Nedlloyd Lines, has upgraded the service between Asia and East Africa on April 2001.
The current weekly service under MOL and PONL's joint operation scheme will further improve transit-times and port coverage from/to Asia to/from East Africa. In particular the transit-time from Singapore to Mombasa will be improved from current 24 days to 19 days, that from Dar-es-Salaam to Singapore from current 18 days to 17 days, and Tanga will be weekly covered instead of current bi-weekly coverage. As well, Indian Ocean Island's weekly coverage will be maintained with the same transit-times.
MOL's new schedule is :
Fortnightly sailings with 3 geared container vessels
Port Klang - Singapore - Colombo - Port Louis - Reunion - Toamasina - (Beira as option) - Mombasa - Tanga - Dar es Salaam - Cochin - (Colombo as option) - Port Klang.
PONL's new schedule is :
Fortnightly sailings with 3 geared container vessels
Port Klang - Singapore - Mahe - Port Louis - Reunion - Toamasina - Mombasa - Tanga - Zanzibar - Dar es Salaam - Mahe - Cochin - Port Klang
The first sailing for the new schedule will commence as from the MOL Karina with departure Singapore on the 7th of April, 2001.
