Shipping Agencies Income Skewed
The total income of all shipping agencies amounted to $65,471,895, sai
d the International Shipping Agencies Association of Korea (ISAAK). Ac
cording to data recently released by ISAAK, for the 315 registered age
ncies, income for the first quarter of 2000 jumped 10 percent compared
to last year's.
Income distribution among shipping agencies was quite skewed with the
top ten grabbing 35 percent of all income or $23,182,389. This represe
nts a 4 percent increase over last year. Agencies outside of the top
100 saw their income decrease by about 9.2 percent.
Out of the 315 shipping agencies, Masersk Korea ranked first, leaving
Woosung shipping in second, down from first place last year. Other per
formers included Hanyang shipping, jumping up three steps to third fro
m 6th, and OOCL Korea leaping to 5th, 6 steps up from last year's 11th
ranking.
