Hanjin drives into U.S. inland trucking
Hanjin Shipping revealed that it launched a logistic company, Hanjin Logistic Inc. (HJL) in Chicago, to take charge of cargoes in the Americas, after reporting its establishment to MOMAF in early April. It will transport containers through DSTs (Double Stack Train) to the West Coast of the U.S. from the East Coast. Usually, cargoes bound for Asia are shipped from the West Coast of the U.S., resulting in empty containers on the East Coast that must be transported back to the West Coast, incurring unnecessary costs.
A spokesman at Hanjin Shipping said that this new company might help in saving logistic costs by using idle containers, and taking advantage of the container-gap between the East and West Coast of the U.S. It expects sales of over $16 million in its first year.
Mr. Park No-Eun was named CEO of HJL. He was Hanjin Shipping's regional manager for the U.S.
