RADIS selects collaborators for 2002
The Korea Shipper's Association announced 12 forwarding companies to collaborate on the Rare Discount Service (RADIS) for 2002 on November 29.
The 12 company collaborative project lost two members, Bax Global and Bonix Shipping, but gained two more, Hyundai Express and Sea Road Trans Corporation.
The two companies were selected based on suitable tariff and rates levels, company credibility and size, number of branches and employees, total capital, and revenue.
A total of 15 companies responded to the RADIS call for new collaborators from November 20 to 22. Hyundai Express and Sea Road Trans Corporation were finally selected.
All the RADIS trades are being redistributed. Out of the trades, North American and South American trades go to First Express International, Kyung Sung Sea & Air Co., Ltd., and Sunjin Shipping Co., Ltd. European trades, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Russian routes, will go to YKL Logistics, East-West Shipping Co., Ltd., and Chorus Logistics Co., Ltd.. In Southeast Asian routes, Dong Sue Shipping Co., Ltd., Dongbo Express Co., Ltd., Hyundai Express and Sea Road Trans Corporation will join. Other Japanese and Australian routes will be handled by the Korea Marine Transport Co., Ltd. (KMTC) and the Orient Shipping Co., Ltd.
RADIS started in 1999 as a business project operated by the Korea Shipper's Association (KSA) in order to save logistic costs for small to mid-sized shippers. Shippers can get around a 20% discount on logistic costs when they use RADIS.
The KSA expected that RADIS could handle around 12,000 TEU of cargoes in 2001 and over 2,500 shippers will use the program.
